Storage is the custody boundary.

Start with local volume storage. Move to MinIO, S3, or R2 only when durability, hosted operation, or existing infrastructure makes the extra boundary worth it.

Default: Local Docker volume
Object store: MinIO, S3, or R2
Backup verification: Manifest plus checksum checks

Use MinIO for local S3-compatible rehearsal, then verify every backup.
